Most Stylish Place - Flury's!

The style quotient is running from pillar to post and knocking at every door with the quick approaching evening of 14th October. The LYCRA® MTV Style Awards this year expands its boundaries in every facet. The ‘style’ crown has been passed on from celebrities to the-girl/guy-next-door with a whole new Most Stylish Person Online award. It could be a regular YOU walking down the ramp tomorrow.

The awards have moved from people to (this year’s addition of) Most Stylish Places. And it’s no more just limited to the boundaries of Aamchi Mumbai. We’ve stretched our hands down south with Bangalore’s Most Stylish Place – Koshy’s and now all the way to Kolkata. We’ve spotted it bang on! It's as important a landmark on the Kolkata map as the Victoria Memorial. A place where one can sip a cup of tea watching the world go by. It’s been around for 75 years and responsible for bringing together the city’s literary (and otherwise genius) icons. This is none other than Flury’s - the ‘Most Original’ bakery as they call it!

This year the LYCRA® MTV Style Awards gives Flury's the ‘style’ tag it deserves! You too can be a part of the most stylish event of the year and walk down the ramp with the most stylish people of the industry. Click here to find out more!

Jaan-E-Mann stars at Lycra-MTV Style Awards '06!

The most awaited couple of Bollywood is coming back together in a film this Diwali. (No not Salman and Ash; seems like Salman’s got his priorities right this time!) But with the Lycra® MTV Style Awards 2006 round the corner you don’t have to wait until Diwali for the surprise. Come October 14th and you will see the ‘terrific duo’ shoulder to shoulder in a jhakaas performance at the event – even before the release of the film.

Still guessing?

It’s Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar, the jodi that created hysteria in Mujhse Shaadi Karogi are back in the new film Jaan-E-Mann. It’s a musical rom-com featuring Preity Zinta as the love interest of both the stars. The film has a number of surprises that can’t quite wait until Diwali. It has a unique performance by Anupam Kher who plays a dwarf in the film. And talks about Sallu bhai’s varied looks in the film are keeping the gossip mills busy working overtime!

The Lycra® MTV Style Awards 2006 will see an exclusive performance by the cast of Jaan-E-Mann – Akshay, Preity, Salman and Anupam Kher sab ek saath. The film is choreographed by Farah Khan; maybe she has something in store for us too!

We're sure each one of them has their style statement intact for the evening. We just
need to keep a watch on how ‘high’ Anupam Kher will walk and how bald… oops, I mean bold
Salman’s appearance will be!

Host with the most

Finally the news is out! The host of the LMSA 2006 is none other than Drama King – Bollywood director Karan Johar. In between his shoot for the host profile Karan spoke to us on Style, his most stylish city and why he thinks Jennifer Aniston is his most stylish Hollywood person. And no we didn't get casted for his next movie.

"Style is an individual statement. Just being yourself, is being the most stylish" says Karan. According to him, KANK was his most stylish film. "KKHH was brand conscious, K3G was opulent while KANK had a very understated, very subtle style to it." So who is the most stylish female in the industry? "Preity Zinta because of her personality" and from the yesteryears "Zeenat Aman", comes the reply. And what about Hollywood? "Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie. While Jen is the classic American girl type, Angelina has that very sexy style about her", he says.

His debut film, KKHH drove the fashionistas crazy and made Shah Rukh the unofficial GAP ambassador. So if he had to choose the Most Stylish Actor (Male) which one will it be - SRK or Abhishek? "Hmm... that's a tough one, since Shah Rukh's look in KANK was more grungy while Abhishek had that certain elegant maturity in his style. But then their characters were poles apart too" replies Karan. "Style can never be bigger than the star. Look at Amitabh Bachchan. He's the biggest style icon of our country" he says.

Talking about style quotient, Karan’s surely got an edge over most Bollywood directors. "Style isn't everything. Over the top style can never be a substitute for a weak script" he says. The acclaimed director thinks Milan is the most stylish city in the world but agrees that "Tokyo has it's own sense of style as well." This years nominations include his best pals, his closest as well as not so close colleagues. There’s both Rani and Preity for the Most Stylish Actor (Female) and there’s Manish Malhotra vs. Rocky S, both designers for his film.

Watch out for the Karan Johar host profile spots on MTV and don't forget to vote for your favourite nominees.

Oscar ya Most Stylish Film Award?

Rang De Basanti (RDB) will now officially represent Indian Cinema at the Oscars. Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra’s depiction of new age desh-bhakti is now nominated in the Phoren Film category.

Okay so everyone’s talking about Aamir and his rang de career now. What about poor Ajay who is still hung up on his jhakaas performance in Omkara and the dreams he dreamt about going to the Oscars? Did anyone think about our Sanjubaba? For him this nomination could probably be the only way he could gain some sympathy from his High Court baapus. And to think of our sensitive Karan Johar, this may be dramatic enough for the story of his next film – Kabhi Oscars Na Kehna!

That leaves Lage Raho Munna Bhai, Omkara, KANK and all the other nominees at the mercy of the Lycra® MTV Style Awards 2006. Bwaahahahaha … Big B says the Oscars is “not the ultimate recognition for a great film”, especially not for The Most Stylish Film!

So this is where YOU play your part. Click here to vote for Most Stylish Film and more.
